When you visit Kos, you expect crystal-clear waters and golden sands. Fortunately, if you are staying in Kardamena, you are already positioned near some of the best beaches the island has to offer. Here is our local guide to the top 5 beaches you must visit.
1. Kardamena Main Beach You don't need to travel far for a great swim. The main beach stretches along the entire front of the village. It features soft sand, shallow, warm waters (perfect for kids), and plenty of sunbeds. Best of all, it is just a short walk from Pittas Studios, making it ideal for a quick morning dip or a lazy afternoon.
2. Paradise Beach (Bubble Beach) Located about a 20-minute drive from Kardamena, Paradise Beach is arguably the most famous beach on Kos. It earns its nickname, "Bubble Beach," from the volcanic gases that gently bubble up through the sand in the shallow water. The sand here is fine and white, and the water is incredibly clear.
3. Magic Beach (Polemi) If you prefer a quieter, more natural environment away from the crowds, Magic Beach is a hidden gem. It is a long, wide stretch of pristine sand surrounded by cedar trees and dunes. It is less commercialized than Paradise Beach, offering a peaceful atmosphere for reading and relaxing.
4. Camel Beach Nestled in a small cove surrounded by steep cliffs, Camel Beach is stunning. Because of its rocky edges, the water here is exceptionally clear, making it a fantastic spot for snorkeling. There is a small taverna at the top of the hill offering great views and cold drinks.
5. Agios Stefanos Beach A bit further down the coast towards Kefalos, Agios Stefanos offers a swimming experience unlike any other. Here, you can swim right next to the ruins of an ancient Christian basilica that sits directly on the beach. Just across the water is the tiny islet of Kastri with its picturesque blue-and-white chapel.
